Time Stamps Bloat Court PDF Files

The recent practice of the Clerk to include time stamps with the PDF files bothers me. The graphic bloats the files from 75-150 KB to 500 KB. Half a megabyte for information that interests me not at all.

The graphic slows down loading considerably; and it's just plain ugly.

What do you think? Does anybody care whether an opinion was filed at 8:48 a.m. on April 1st?

Yes, I complained about it at length when the Clerk first started adding the time stamp. As you may recall, for several days no cases were available because it messed up the system. The time stamps still often make the document difficult for me to load.

And there is a programming problem -- other courts have been able to add time stamps without these issues.

The explanation at the time was that, with the time stamps, it would no longer be necessary for the Clerk's office to produce paper copies of rulings.

I have no idea why the time stamp would make paper copies unnecessary.
